Troubleshooter:

Make sure…

  • The host has a pretty decent connection and you’ve arranged game properly through Skype/IM.
  • You have all logged in to Hamachi and have copied the correct Hamachi IP of the host.
  • You all have the same, up to date TA-Bugfix version.
  • You have not switched back to ‘OTA’ using the .bat files in your TA dir.
  • You have a beer or tea prepared for the great battle ahead!
  • You’ve added the Hamachi IP’s of all your TA compadres into that annoying Firewall of yours.
  • You have restarted TA if there have been any recent problems or issues.
  • Your router isn’t blocking other players from pinging you in Hamachi. Always test ping pre-game

Er… think that’s almost everything.

Great, so how do I join???

  1. Install our T.A Bugfix Community Pack
  2. Get Hamachi
  3. Install Skype then contact one of us regulars for a Hamachi login…

Nifty Shortcuts

* CTRL+G selects all armed ground units.
* CTRL+B go to next idle builder.
* CTRL+P selects all armed planes.
* CTRL+F2 displays whiteboard / setup.
* CTRL+T tracks selected units.
* CTRL+Z selects all of same type.
* CTRL+X selects all “super-weapons” (Berthas, Annihilators, Nuke Silos etc).
* CTRL+Q selects anti-air structures.
* CTRL+H selects armed hovercraft.
* CTRL+R selects (anti) radar/sonar units.
* CTRL+T selects torpedo launchers.
* CTRL+N selects armed naval units.
* CTRL+L selects laser towers / fixed defenses.

NOTE:

  • Arm Pelicans are selectable with CTRL+G and CTRL+H.
  • Crawling bombs cannot be selected with CTRL+G, because their “weapon” is their death.
  • Decoy commanders are not selectable with CTRL+G or CTRL+W, but NOT with CTRL+B.
  • Mine-layers, Arm FARK, and Core Necro are selectable with CTRL+B.
  • Core Doomsday Machine has the “D-Gun” option. This does NOT fire a D-gun but instead fires machine’s 3rd weapon – its red laser. By using the “A” and “D” keys (using shift), the DDM can fire at multiple targets at once using different weapons.
  • The Core Krogoth also has the “D-Gun” option to fire its 3rd weapon, its arm-mounted Gauss Guns!!!

CTRL+F2 brings up the white-board, to set commands such as:

+shootall – shoot at static structures automatically.
+setshareenergy XXXX- where X is amount you keep, above that amount shared with allies.
+setsharemetal XXXX- where X is amount you keep, above that amount shared with allies.

You can also type these commands individually in the chat. To chat only to allies, enter a: before you type.
Press TAB to share resources, ally, etc.

Hold SHIFT and click to queue orders!! A shift-click in build menu orders 5 items instead of just one.
CTRL+1 , CTRL+2, CTRL+3 – adds selected units to group 1, 2, 3 etc. (Just press that number to select that group again.)

    I am just wondering around looking for ways to play TA. Feeling a bit misty eyed after playing supcomm and not getting that feel of community.

    Yeah I know what you mean. Supcom’s cool but is missing that je nous se qua! Skype me (add ‘lukeev’ to your contacts) and we’ll try and get a game sometime. The community doesn’t play so much now which is why I turned this blog into a general RTS ‘rant’.
